Semiconductor Fuse Overview
The DNR38-J1M is a heavy-duty fast-acting fuse link for power semiconductor protection. Part of the DNR series, it carries AC 690V / DC 500V at 160–400A. It delivers backup and short-circuit protection in the most demanding applications, such as large inverters, HVDC converters, traction systems and utility battery installations. Built with a large UL94 V-0 ceramic body, the DNR38-J1M provides high reliability and complies with strict safety standards.

Semiconductor Fuse FAQs
1、What does a fuse link do?
A heavy-duty fuse link like the DNR38-J1M protects critical power systems by interrupting fault currents. Under overcurrent, the fuse element melts, providing short-circuit and backup protection to prevent catastrophic failure of equipment.
2、How do you choose the right fuse link?
Choose based on your system’s voltage (AC/DC) and load current. The fuse rating should exceed normal current but be lower than fault current. Ensure the fuse’s interrupt rating and type (aR) match your needs. Also account for environmental (ambient temperature, vibration) and mechanical requirements. Confirm that the fuse meets the necessary standards for your application.
3、Is there a difference between AC and DC fuses?
Yes. DC systems do not have zero-crossings, so DC fuses often have higher voltage handling. The DNR38-J1M (AC690V/DC500V) demonstrates this. Always use a fuse specifically rated for AC or DC as required.
