NGT2 Industrial Semiconductor Fuse Overview
The GRL NGT2 Semiconductor Fuse is a high-speed, ultra-rapid fuse link designed for reliable short-circuit protection in power electronic circuits. With a rated current range of 160A–400A and a breaking capacity up to 100kA, it provides precise, ultra-fast protection for semiconductors such as IGBTs, rectifiers, and thyristors used in energy storage systems, industrial drives, and renewable energy converters.
The NGT2 belongs to the aR protection category, meaning it reacts in microseconds to fault currents, preventing thermal damage and ensuring the safety of sensitive semiconductor components. Built to meet IEC 60269-4 and GB/T 13539.4 standards, and certified by CCC and CE, the NGT2 series ensures global compliance and consistent performance in demanding power applications.

NGT2 Industrial Semiconductor Fuse FAQs
1、What is the difference between a semiconductor fuse and an HRC fuse?
Semiconductor fuses, often called ultra-fast or rectifier fuses, are specifically designed to protect semiconductor devices. They have very fast melting elements, low let-through energy (I²t), and extremely high interrupt ratings, typically 50–200 kA, to cope with the explosive energy of a device short-circuit.
By contrast, general-purpose HRC fuses (types gG/gL, etc.) are made for broad circuit protection in power systems. HRC fuses have slower response time, higher current ratings, and are meant for motors or distribution circuits, not the delicate semiconductors. In short, semiconductor fuses are an ultra-fast subclass of HRC fuses, optimized for sensitive electronics, whereas ordinary HRC fuses are for general power protection.
2、Can I replace a standard HRC fuse with an NGT series fuse?
Only if your circuit contains semiconductor components that require fast interruption. The NGT series fuse is not intended for general distribution loads. In practice, HRC (gG) fuses tolerate sustained overloads that aR fuses do not, so swapping is not advised except in its specific use case of protecting semiconductor equipment.
